My experience with Owner Andrew Durkin and his shop Ultimate European Repair was as atrocious as one can get. He charged me $4,598.90 to work on my car. After paying him all this money my car was still not repaired correctly. Then to add salt to the wound, Andrew fraudulently charged $700 to my girlfriend’s credit card. Through the dispute charge process she was able to recoup the $700. Thereafter Andrew filed a small claims complaint against me. Fortunately, the magistrate dismissed it.
My mistake was not digging further and uncovering the fake reviews. I didn’t bother checking other websites. I am responsible for failing to do enough diligence and trusting Google. From this experience I learned that Andrew tricks algorithms with fake reviews and by arbitrarily removing negative reviews. This skews Ultimate European Repair’s Google presence. The corrupt practice by Andrew has perpetrated customer deception and highlighted themselves in search results.
The stress of enduring this disaster was immeasurable. I can unequivocally tell you that Andrew exploited my lack of car knowledge by squeezing more money out of me for unnecessary repairs. Save your money and go elsewhere. I am sharing this expensive and painful lesson to warn off others.
The following is an honest review that is supported with court exhibits I submitted to the Maricopa County Justice Courts. The case number is CC2021-135411. In the photos section I have included documentation regarding the case.
Due to a simple “check engine light”, I made the fateful decision to have my car looked at Ultimate European Repair. Based on their fraudulent 5-star reviews, I was duped into thinking my car would be in good hands with Andrew Durkin (The Owner). This would turn out to be the worst financial decision of my life.
I am a middle-aged vulnerable female that was exploited and taken advantage by Andrew Durkin and Ultimate European Repair. I was charged an expensive diagnosis fee plus the cost of the repairs ($500). After having it repaired the first time, I drove off thinking my car was all good. I would be wrong.
Thereafter my “check engine light” would come right back on. I would immediately call the shop and was told to bring the car right back in. I was fooled into thinking I was covered under their warranty. This was not the case. Again, I got charged an expensive diagnosis fee plus the repair cost ($2500).
Through their nefarious tactics, Ultimate European Repair was able to cross sell me easypay finance (lender) so I could finance the cost of the repairs. Easypay finance approved me for $2185. The rest of the balance was charged to my MasterCard.
When I got my car back, I immediately noticed something was not right. As soon as I drove on the freeway it went into limp mode and the “check engine light” came on. I was devastated. I just paid over $2500 to have it repaired. My car was worse after having Ultimate European Repair work on it.
My car was towed back to Ultimate European Repair. On this visit I was told their prior work had nothing to do with the “new” problem. The “new” diagnosis was that I had a bad catalytic converter, and it would cost $5,750.25 to repair. I gasped at this.
During my conversation with Andrew, he was a true snake oil salesman. He would use his infamous line, “sorry, the timing sucks for sure but…” Our conversation ended with him telling me to never contact Ultimate European Repair again.
Arrowhead BMW confirmed my worst fears. I was taken for a fool and ripped off by Andrew Durkin and Ultimate European Repair. I fell for “the never-ending repair car scam” and now I am $2,958.33 in debt. This is so embarrassing. To add insult to injury my car is still in disrepair.
Andrew advertises that they are a little different than most shops. He is right because they are more dishonest and expensive than a dealership.
I wish to God I had gotten a second opinion. I was better off going to the dealership. At least they stand behind their work.
The judgement from the justice of the peace was not in my favor. The decision does not exonerate Andrew and Ultimate European Repair from the fact that they are corrupt, unethical, and immoral.
As embarrassing and humiliating as this has been, I was able to muster enough courage to share my abysmal experience and post this review. If I can save anybody from being ripped off, then it was worth it.
Andrew has resorted to name calling me. Also, he has threatened me with a baseless and frivolous lawsuit. He is willing to go to extreme measures to intimidate and silence me. This speaks volumes to the bully and self-centered individual Andrew is.
I am taking the time to express my great displeasure and disappointment with Andrew and Ultimate European Repair.
When I first brought my car to Andrew, he said the valve cover ($390.09) and oil pan ($900.24) gaskets were leaking oil and needed to be repaired. After he worked on these two things, the car continued to leak oil and I brought it back to him. At that time, he told me it was the oil filter housing gasket, but he never mentioned a cracked valve cover. I now had my reservations about him and his work.
While having the oil filter housing gasket repaired at an independent shop, I was advised that my valve cover was leaking oil. When I attempted to make an appointment with Ultimate European for warranty work, I got treated like a second-class citizen. The day I dropped off the car, I continued to be treated like a second-class citizen. Andrew was aware of all this and made no effort to make things right.
Andrew advised me that the actual valve cover was damaged and needed to be replaced. I was exasperated knowing that he previously put a new gasket on a damaged valve cover. Now I was out $390.09. With his extensive 15-year experience, there was no excuse for him to put a new gasket on a damaged valve cover. Andrew gave me an exorbitant estimate to have the valve cover replaced. This was an unscrupulous tactic to generate a higher repair bill. This was a complete slap in the face. First, he puts a new gasket on a damaged valve cover and now he tells me I have a damaged valve cover. This was inexcusable and unacceptable.
I took his exorbitant estimate and had an independent shop fix his sloppy work. Thereafter he emailed me a hollow apology. In the same email he stated anything regarding the oil pan to bring it back to him because he stands by his warranty. This would be a farce.
My oil pan continued to leak oil and for a third time returned to Andrew under the protection of the warranty. On this visit Andrew attempted to charge me $72 and change for potential warranty work. I refused to pay him this absurd and unjustified amount.
His warranty clearly states it is an unprecedented 3 year / 60,000-mile warranty guarantee. Not a conditional 3 year / 60,000-mile warranty guarantee. This nickel and dimeing by him were about as petty as one can get. After endless pushback from Andrew, he agreed to fix my oil leak. This would not occur.
I got my car back and it was still leaking oil. He did not fix one oil leak. I decided to cut my losses and moved on. In total Andrew ripped me off $1,290.33.
The whole experience with Ultimate European has been dishonesty, pushback, and unprofessionalism. Keep your hard-earned money and go somewhere else.
