About the Business

Shear Fire Design has been a successful hair and nail salon in the Mat-Su Valley for over 5 years. During this time, Jana Rhea Powell (the owner), has seen a need for a beauty school in the valley. As a certified instructor with the State of Alaska, she decided to turn her salon into a school to serve the needs of the local community. We welcome everyone to visit our salon and beauty school during open business hours!

Academic Year is open enrollment throughout the year and course is considered completed when student successfully completes the amount of hours mandated by the state for the particular course of study. Academic calendar is January 2nd - December 31st, closed on New Years, Easter, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
