About the Business

Dekker’s Jewelry Store was first established in Goes, Netherlands in 1882 by Cornelius Dekker. The company has been passed down from father to son until Randall Dekker, son of Henry Dekker, grandson of Dirk Henry Dekker, and great-grandson of Dekker’s founder, Cornelius Dekker, passed the business on to Gerrit VanKampen. Randall worked as a lawyer and later became the President of FMB, so when he decided to purchase the company from his dad in 1950, he was already a very busy man. Gerrit VanKampen first joined the business in 1946, working as a watchmaker for Henry Dekker. So, when Randall bought it in 1950, he decided to have Gerrit operate the business for him. Gerrit officially purchased the business from Randall in 1973 and it has been in the VanKampen family ever since.
